The Northern Mariana Islands’ Administrative Code requires that home study programs “must meet Commonwealth curriculum and performance standards,” including a set of provisions that apply to all approved home study programs. These standards include provisions that include a required application process, scheduled reports to the Commissioner of Education, and monitoring of home study programs by the public school system to ensure compliance with terms outlined in the application process. Home school parents must submit a description of their qualifications to the Commissioner. Any tutor that is hired to serve a homeschool must provide a police clearance for the previous three years.
