Homeschooling in Vermont

vermont-300x180Vermont education statutes identify homeschooling as “an educational program offered through home study which provides a minimum course of study.”  Additionally, Vermont homeschools must offer services to not more than (1) those children residing in the home; and (2) to two or fewer children who do not live in the home or who are from one family.  Vermont home study parent/teachers must conduct annual progress assessments for each of their students in “each area of the minimum course of study.”  The Vermont home study enrollment process requires written notice to the Commissioner of Education.  Vermont does not require home school teachers to be qualified or certified.
