Homeschooling in Oregon


Oregon-300x180Oregon parents who choose to home school their children are not required to provide advance notice to their school district but must register their child at the local Education Service District (ESD) office within ten days of withdrawal from public school. Parents are not required to notify the ESD on an annual basis.  Oregon Statute 339.030 outlines situations in which school age children can be exempt from attendance at public schools including “Children being educated in the children’s home by a parent or legal guardian.”  Oregon does not require homeschool parent/teachers to be certified or licensed in the state.
