Homeschooling in Mississippi

mississippiMississippi recognizes home schools in the same category as “nonpublic schools.”  Accreditation and approval by the Mississippi State Board of Education are both optional for home schools.  Registration and licensing are not required.  The parent or guardian of a home school student is required to complete and file a “Certificate of Enrollment” with the local public school attendance officer by September 15 of each year.  Other than the requirement to file a Certificate, there are no current Mississippi state laws related to homeschooling programs.
