Homeschooling in Minnesota

minnesota-300x180Minnesota home schools operate under the same responsibilities and services as do private schools in the state.  Home school parents must file what is known as an “Initial Report” with the relevant Superintendent of Schools when the home school first opens its doors and must file a Letter of Intent to Continue Homeschooling at the beginning of each subsequent year.  Minnesota education statutes state that home school teachers are not required to be certified but, if the home school is not accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the State, the parent must then submit instructor qualifications “in accordance with the Compulsory Instruction Law.”
