STEP BY STEP GUIDE

Step 1 – Choose a curriculum

Global Student Network understands not one curriculum is a fit for every student. With this knowledge, GSN has partnered with the best curriculum available to provide you with many options.  To choose the best fit for your student, begin by viewing each of our demos.  It is important that both you and the student view the demos.  Login and look around.  Make note of the features you like or do not like about each one.  Which curriculum you use is personal preference.  The same standards will be met in each product. It is the “look and feel” and some of the features of the curriculum that will appeal to you or your student.  You can find more information about each our products on the curriculum tab.  Please contact us if you have any additional questions.

Step 2 – Choose your courses

Once you choose your curriculum, you will see the courses available for that product. You are free to choose courses from any grade level as long as you are meeting your state’s requirements. To see your state’s requirements, visit http://www.homeschoolfacts.com/state-laws.html  Typically in Elementary and Middle School, students take the four core courses, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.  If there is more than one option for these disciplines, you will need to choose the one that meets your state’s standards.  For example: Grade 6 Science may have Science 6 or Earth and Space Science.  For High School students, you will need to follow your states graduation requirements.  You can find a typical path to High School graduation here. For an additional fee, you can also have access to our academic advisor who will assist you with course selection.   Please contact us if you have any additional questions.

Step 3 – Teacher Role

Once the courses are chosen and fees are paid, you will receive an email with a login for you as the teacher and your student. You will act in the role as the teacher for each course and will be responsible for grading all work the system does not automatically grade. Also in the role as the teacher, you will oversee all coursework, unlock test, permit progress, and issue the final grades.

Step 4 – Keep Records

As a homeschooling family, it is important to keep records of your child’s education. Homeschool record requirements vary from state to state.  You will need to check your state’s homeschool laws to determine what records should be kept.  GSN provides each of its families with a free homeschool portfolio kit and access to our homeschool record keeping system.  For an additional fee, you can also have access to our academic advisor who will assist you with record keeping.   Please contact us if you have any additional questions.
