California: World History, Culture, and Geography: The Modern World (Credit: 1.00)

This year-long course discusses the people, events, and ideas that have shaped the course of history. Throughout the course students will learn about a variety of topics. Topics in this course include: The important reasons we study history The early civilizations of the world The important political and social ideals that originated in classical Greece and ancient Rome The major religions that have developed throughout the world The major empires throughout history Interaction and exchange between the peoples of the world Major political, cultural, and religious revolutions The impact of world war and its repercussions Important events of the 20th Century After completing the course, students should be able to answer a variety of questions relating to world history and demonstrate a number of social studies skills.
