Students in Social Studies Grade 7 will continue the study of history from sixth grade. Students will review world geography and the Middle Ages and then progress through the history of the world, continuing through modern times. Upon completion of the course, students should be able to do the following: Identify important geographical features throughout the world. Describe the ways societies expanded politically and economically. Describe the process of world exploration and colonization. Examine worldwide revolutions and independence movements. Examine the causes and effects of World War I and World War II. Describe the relationships between countries during periods of conflict and peace. Identify and describe different types of economies. Students will be asked to conduct research and analyze information and write essays on an array of topics related to world history.
