| How do I know which courses to sign up for? |
If your child has been working at grade level, and you are starting a new grade, we recommend signing up for the core courses at grade level. If you are starting mid-year, we recommend signing up for the current year’s core courses and start where you feel your child left off in traditional school. For example, if you are starting around the 2nd semester, we recommend starting at about lesson 10.If you need individualized assistance in course recommendations for High Schoolers, please fax a copy of your child’s last high school transcripts after you have submitted the enrollment form, and our counselor will provide individualized recommendations for course selection. |
| Does Global Student Network do placement testing? |
No. Global Virtual Curriculum’s annual “unlimited” license is a better option. If you find that your child is struggling at their current grade level, just send us an e-mail, or submit an “add-course” and we can add a previous grade level course. Similarly, if the current grade level is too basic, your child can take more advanced courses. (back to top)
|
| How long does my child have to finish their classes? |
The license for the curriculum is valid for 365 days from the date of enrollment. The benefit of this is that your child can take the entire year to finish a course, rather than being limited to a typical "school year."

|
| What if my child doesn't finish a class within 365 days? |
If for some reason your child isn't able to finish a class within the license period, his course work will be frozen on the 366th day. It is important to note though, that the course work doesn't disappear. Payment of the annual renewal license fee will allow your child to finish any work that was not completed. (back to top)
|
| What if my child finishes their courses before the license expires? |
One of the major advantages of the Global VLC curriculum is that it allows your student to progress at their own pace. Another is that the annual license allows unlimited courses for that year. If your child finishes one grade level within that year, they can begin the next years work ahead of schedule.

| Is the Global Virtual Curriculum accredited? |
This is a common question from many homeschoolers, but the answer is complex, and one of the most misunderstood myths of public education. Please be patient while we try to give you the straight answers.
First, there is no such thing as an accredited homeschool curriculum. Accreditation refers to a process of self-examination and peer review that only schools are eligible to undergo. If a “homeschool” provider claims to be accredited, then what they are really saying is that they are a “school-at-home” provider. For a more detailed explanation click here.
At one point, accreditation was an indicator that you could be assured that your child was receiving an outstanding education. That is no longer true, Even the Secretary of Education, Margaret Spelling, is questioning the validity and reliability of accrediting organizations.
Today, Colleges across the nation and around the world are recognizing what homeschoolers have known for many years. Homeschoolers make great college students. They have better study skills, are more self-determined, have great social skills, and most important, have well developed self-discipline. They are more successful in college, generally, then their traditionally educated peers. There is a list at www.homeschoolfacts.com of colleges that currently accept homeschoolers, that list is growing every day.
As previously discussed. Global Virtual Curriculum was developed by a leading U.S. Public School District and is currently being used as a primary curriculum in over 200 school districts Nationwide. Many of the schools in those districts are accredited. (back to top)

| If my child returns to public school later, will the courses that completed with Global Virtual Curriculum transfer in? |
At the Elementary and Middle school level, 100% of students returning to public school have received full recognition for the work they have completed with Global Virtual Curriculum. At the High School level, 99% have received full recognition.
There are still many “traditionalists” in public education who hold on to the beliefs that only a professional trained teacher can provide adequate instruction to students, despite an abundance of research that shows otherwise. Unfortunately, these traditionalists are frequently in the positions of authority that accept or reject credits from homeschool programs. Fortunately, Global Student Network has worked collaboratively with schools around the world to recognize the work students have completed using Global Virtual Curriculum. On request, we will send a letter to schools requesting credit acceptance. Of all requests we have sent out, 99% have been approved. (back to top)

| How does my child graduate? Who issues the diploma? |
As a homeschool parent, you decide when you child has received adequate instruction for graduation. We at Global Recommend that you follow the course guidelines of your state. As the homeschool parent, you are also the school counselor, dean, instructor, and yes, the principal. You are the authority for your child’s education and you have the honor of issuing the diploma. Global Student Network provides a portfolio template to homeschool students using Global Virtual Curriculum. (back to top)
|
| What courses should my student take? |
Most state homeschool regulations require that your student receive an “equivalent” instruction in homeschool. For that reason, we recommend that you have them complete the same level of courses that is required by the state for graduation. More importantly, if your child is going on to higher education, most colleges do want to see a structured transcript or portfolio. Generally, a high school student should take: 4 years of English, 3 years of Math, 2+ years of Science, 2 Years of Foreign Language, US History, World History, Government, Economics and Citizenship. A variety of electives also demonstrates to colleges that a student has received a well-rounded education. For more specific information on your states requirements, we recommend you check out homeschoolfacts.com.

| Is Global Virtual Curriculum appropriate for Special Education? |
There are many aspects of Global Virtual Curriculum that make it ideal for Special Education. First, the entire curriculum is set up to be self paced for your child. This means that your child can start at the grade level that is appropriate by class and then move on when ready. The curriculum also includes videos in every lesson to enhance learning. Every lesson has an audio component so the lesson can be read to your child. When you check out our free demo, you’ll see that every lesson has a PDF version, click on this and then hold control, shift and V and with the Adobe 6.0 or higher, the lesson will start to be read. The high school math and science courses have “integrated” courses that might be more appropriate for students with special education needs. (back to top)
